Brad’s Background

Brad provides the firm’s clients with expertise in a wide range of chemical, mechanical and petroleum technologies. His experience includes oil field drilling and completion technology; production enhancement; petrochemical processing; polymer films; polyolefin production; semiconductor fabrication; medical devices; and consumer products. Brad has significant experience in domestic and international prosecution; client counseling; prosecution strategies for patent portfolios; patentability searches and analyses; opinion work; litigation support; “design-around” assistance; IP licensing; and contractual negotiations. Brad also performs due-diligence and freedom-to-operate searches and assists clients in developing strategic patent portfolios.

Brad attended the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship and was a member of a championship team that played in the Fiesta Bowl. After three years of football (and a blown knee) while still studying at UW, Brad turned his attention toward the oil and gas industry by working for the U.S Department of Energy at its Laramie Energy Research Center performing research on oil shale gasification. Brad earned his BSChE from UW with a focus on the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

After graduation, Brad pursued a 20 year career in the oil patch in positions of increasing responsibility ranging from Drilling Engineer to Vice President of Operations for companies that included Occidental Petroleum, OXY NGL and Conoco. Areas in which Brad is experienced include drilling & completions; production operations; gas processing; natural gas liquids (NGL) extraction, fractionation and storage; import/export terminals; refining; and project management.

Brad attended night school at University of Houston Law Center while working full-time for Conoco in the gas processing division. Since earning his J.D. in 2000, Brad has practiced in both the law firm and corporate settings. These include stints at patent litigation boutique Williams, Morgan & Amerson P.C., Patent Counsel at Total Petrochemical, Senior Counsel at Halliburton and Chief Patent Counsel at KBR. Brad has extensive experience negotiating various IP agreements, including patent licenses, joint-development agreements and university research agreements. He has also served as lead attorney at KBR for a number of Engineering, Construction and Procurement (EPC) contracts for multi-billion-dollar petrochemical projects in the Persian Gulf region. Additional activities include conducting due diligence studies of potential merger and acquisition prospects.

Brad joined Krueger Iselin in 2015 as Of Counsel.
